Get To Know The Man Behind Doc Deazy

As he hopes to change the fashion game globally, creative director and head of designs of Doc’Deazy Dezigns, Ishmael Ndizeye sat down with BONA to discuss his journey in the fashion industry.

Speaking with BONA, Ishmael, also known by his brand name Doc Deazy, stated that his path in fashion began as a student, where he got more driven to develop his eco-friendly business.

When asked about the inspiration behind his fashion line he said, “To be honest Doc’Deazy was not something that I planned before starting it.  I can say that it was a result of my transitioning from a place of darkness to light. My efforts towards seeking my creator God opened my eyes to see opportunities that were right before me. In the process of creating Doc’Deazy, I had very close assistance from my mother, as she is a very good seamstress in the textile industry.

Detailing his creative process, Doc Deazy mentioned that he got most of his ideas from thrifted items that were still in good use, adding, “When it comes to creative direction inspiration, I draw inspiration from brands like Seventh Stores, Carhart, Stone Island and similar type of brands, based on their earthy tone colour palettes and utility in design.”

In developing his company, the fashion designer believed that adopting eco-friendly materials would raise awareness about pollution issues that affect us and minimise our carbon footprint.

Doc Deazy is not only the man behind the fashion brand but also the founder of Popup Collab, an initiative that aims to help small business owners market their products and engage with potential customers as a way to expand their market research.

Doc Deazy ended the interview with BONA by encouraging fellow fashion designers to, “Just start, you never know what the result will be if you don’t try.”
